Samsung A817 Solstice II is a touchscreen phone available for AT&T. It supports quad-band GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz 2G networks and tri-band HSDPA 850 / 900 / 2100 3G networks. Let's have a look at some of its features.
Size and Dimensions:
The handset measures 109 x 54.1 x 12 mm and weighs merely 95 grams. It is very lightweight and compact which makes it easy to carry and use. Overall, the phone's design is sleek and stylish.

Samsung Solstice II features a 3.35 inches TFT resistive touchscreen display which has a resolution of 240 X 400 pixels and supports up to 65K colors. It uses Samsung's TouchWiz version 2.0 user interface which offers a refreshing look and is very easy to use. Users can customize the home screen as well as the menus with their favorite widgets and shortcuts.
Phonebook and Ringtones:
The cell phone supports MP3 and WAV ringtones. Users can set their favorite songs or tunes as their ringtones easily. The phonebook can store up to 2000 entries along with photocall features. It is possible to set a separate ringtone for an individual contact. Up to 90 records of each received, dialed and missed calls are stored in the call logs of the phone.
Data connectivity and memory:
Samsung Solstice II has an internal memory of 256 MB which can be further expanded to up to 16 GB using an external microSD memory card. Data connectivity options include GPRS, EDGE as well as high speed HSDPA with speeds upto 7.2 Mbps. For data transfer between other devices, Bluetooth version 2.1 with A2DP and microUSB version 2.0 is offered.
Camera:
The device has a brilliant 2 megapixel camera which can take images up to a resolution of 1600 X 1200 pixels. video recording is also possible. Although, the camera is not the best, it does a decent job. It is possible to send your recorded videos and photos to your friends through MMS.
Applications:
Samsung Solstice offers a good collection of applications. It comes preloaded with games and also supports Java MIDP 2.0 which means you can even install third-party games or apps. A music player and video player allows you to play your favorite songs and videos directly on the phone. Social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter are directly integrated which means users can stay connected with their friends on the go. Internet can accessed via WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML compatible web browser. Other applications include SMS, MMS, Email, organizer, calculator, calender, voice memo, voice dial and much more.
