Released in February, earlier this year, the Samsung T929 Memoir is stylish camera phone from Samsung. It is one of the few phones that packs a staggering 8 mega pixel camera in it's ensemble. This high-end phone comes in a simple touchscreen slab design but roll out in a very sturdy built. The metal work gives a nice feeling of strength The display on this phone is a full sized TFT resistive touchscreen with a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels and enabling 256K colours. The Memoir is the second device from Samsung, after the Behold to incorporate the TouchWiz interface. Since than a lot many other Samsung handsets have included this user-friendly and interactive UI. Built-in is an accelerometer sensor that assists in auto-rotate of the UI into portrait or landscape mode.
The Samsung T929 Memoir is a quad-band GSM based device but it also comes with service support for 3G network. As a result high speed downloading and access of data is available through HSDPA. The contact management system is fully featured and the phone allows up to 1000 contact entries to be added in the phone-book. The Memoir also supports SMS, MMS, Email and IM and also integrates application support Hotmail and Gmail. It features both a virtual 12 key alphanumeric keypad as well as a virtual full QWERTY keypad on it's touchscreen. This is a Class10 GPRS and Class10 EDGE enabled device that comes along with a built-in WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML web browser to give access to mobile Internet. It also supports Bluetooth to allow easy sharing of data between compatible devices. Apart from a USB port the device also comes with a GPS receiver with A-GPS support.

The most important feature though is the camera at the back of the Memoir. The lens cover opens and closes automatically while using the camera that gives one the feeling of using a dedicated digital camera. This efficient 8 mega pixel camera also includes a 10X digital zoom along with an auto-focus feature and a maximum resolution of 3264x2448 pixels. A xenon flash is also included which comes really handy when taking indoor photos or in low light conditions. The images produced come out with nice reproduction of rich colours and fine details. The camera interface is touch optimised and it also includes smart features like geo-tagging, face and smile detection. Video recording is possible in QVGA mode at the rate of 30 frames/sec. The music player is also a wholesome addition in the phone and music can be transferred by connecting the phone to Windows Media Player on a PC. On device creation of music playlists is also possible. Music can be enjoyed by plugging in the wired headsets that accompany the handset or can be played directly on the speaker-phone.
Presently the Samsung T929 Memoir is available in only Black and Silver colour schemes. The standard Li-Ion 1000 mAh battery comes out with a talk time support for more than 5 hours while the standby time offered is up to 300 hours. Other mentionable features in the Memoir include an Organiser, Document viewer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF) and Voice memo/dial.
